MooreMotivation: Impact of Peers
MooreMotivation
Prior to them even walking through the doors as freshmen, I challenged the incoming 9th graders to pay attention to their peers over the course of 4 years. The people they spend the most time with. While they just see it as friendship, what they don't understand is what an impactful role peers can play on growth and development. This conversation is about getting better. This conversation is about maximizing potential. This conversation is about being Elite. Since that's the case, judge your peers not by how good they make you feel, but by how much they push you to get better. If they aren't taking steps to get better themselves, analyze them more. If they don't dream bigger than you, dismiss them. I know that's a tough challenge. But if your peers don't rank high in those 3 areas, you better be cautious sharing your dreams with them. Try this over the next year: if you share a dream, that big dream, with a peer, and you find yourself gradually moving away from your dream instead of toward it, you most likely told the wrong person.
